TYPICAL PLACEMENTS

Listed below is a sampling of job opportunities as Mother's Helpers and Granny Helpers available through Summer Placement Consultants, Inc. Many other placements are listed in our office. All jobs are live-in and include free room and board. Often there are multiple jobs in one location so friends can be placed near each other. Many employers request girls, but there are positions for boys as well. Mother's Helper jobs require swimming ability and experience working with children. Granny Helper positions require a decent knowledge of cooking and willingness to help with errands and light housekeeping. Having a driver's license is helpful for all positions. Salaries vary but generally average about $350 a week for college students.

MOTHER'S HELPER POSITIONS

ALL SUMMER

Osterville, MA. Girls 4 and 2 need responsible, outgoing, energetic and creative helper. Live on family compound. Other children, other helpers there.
Wellesley/Chatham, MA. Spend 3 weeks in July at Cape Cod with boy 7 and girl 2. Rest of summer at home in Wellesley with days spent at country club.
Chatham, MA. Independent, responsible girl wanted to help in family with boy 11 and girls 9 and 7. Also includes helping with errands and walking family dog. Beautiful waterfront location.
East Hampton, NY. Girls 10 and 7 are quite independent but still need rides to activities, evening babysitting, and enjoy having a "summer older sister." Household help requested when girls are in camp.
East Hampton, NY. Boy 7, girls 10, 6 and 3. Lots of activity in this outgoing, sports-oriented family. Past helpers have really enjoyed this fun family.
Dedham, MA/Biddeford Pool, ME. Girl 6 and boy 4 spend time in day camp, at their country club pool, and playing in yard with friends. Several weeks at different times spent in Maine.
Prouts Neck, ME. Energetic girl wanted to help family with girls 5 and 4 and baby boy. Lots of beach going and bike riding. Be able to care for baby and for creative play with girls.

Beverly, MA. Boy 9 and girl 6. Mother works part-time. Children in activities at country club. Want outgoing, athletic helper. Great house.
Osterville, MA. Bike riding, tennis and sailing along with swimming and beach time are major activities of boy 14 and girls 12 and 7. Many other helpers in the area.
Watch Hill, RI. Several positions available here. One family has girl 6 and boy 4. Another has boy 2 and girls 6 and 5. A third job available with boys 5 and 3 and girl 2. Old-fashioned summer fun in this lovely summer community with beautiful beach.
South Hamilton, MA. Two families looking for friends to fill their positions. One with boy 7 and girl 9. The other with boy 6 and girls 11, 9 and 7. These children do many activities together. Helpers will have very much the same schedules. Fun on the job, fun for time off together.
Bedford Hills, NY. Boys 8, 6 and 4 and girl 2 want a "camp counselor" kind of person to make summer fun and get everybody where they need to be. Dedham, MA with travel to Cape Cod, Michigan, California. Favorite position, with boys 10 and 6. Concentration is on younger child. Needs a helper who can be flexible and adjust easily to new situations.

JULY ONLY

Northeast Harbor, ME. Boy 6 and twin boys 9 are very active in sailing, swimming, tennis. Family prefers helper who has own car to help with transportation.
Mattapoisett, MA. Boy 12 needs companion and care giver. Parents work in Boston three days a week for two of the four weeks. Helper will be in charge for overnight stays during that period. Other two weeks workload is less.

GRANNY HELPER POSITIONS

Woods Hole, MA. Widow who loves cooking, entertaining and gardening needs girl to help with cooking, housekeeping, errands. Appreciates a certain degree of sophistication in her helper.
Fishers Island, NY. Elderly couple in large home needs girl who can cook and clean for them, help out in other ways. '98 helper loved this job, family and location.
Nantucket, MA. Month of August only. Favorite position with older woman doing cooking and errands, helping entertain her visiting grandchildren and some other guests.
