SPC: A Specialty Job Service for Both Families and Students
Summer Placement Consultants, Inc. is a resource for both employer families and students by providing a central repository of summer jobs and the students to fill them. We present student candidates to employer families based on the students' skills, abilities, experience level, availability and job location preferences and how they match up with the needs of the family. In short, we are a service that matches students and employers, attempting to "fit round pegs into round holes" so that all concerned have a great summer experience.

Thoroughly Screened Students and Families
SPC requires all students to fill out a thorough application and provide two letters of reference from former employers and/or teachers. SPC passes along pertinent information from these letters, along with the references' addresses and phone numbers, so that the employers may contact the references directly. SPC interviews each student and speaks with at least one of the student's references. Students are also required to have valid certification(s) in at least one of the following: CPR, Life Guard and/or First Aid. SPC will typically provide multiple student candidates to a family for their consideration. Once a student is hired by an employer family, SPC runs a state-mandated Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check before the student enters the home. Ultimately, when a successful match is made, it is a mutual decision between the student and the family. SPC is not involved in the employment agreement.

For the benefit of students, SPC requires that all employer families fill out a thorough application and provide references that students or students' parents may contact. New employer families are carefully screened and are accepted by referral only. SPC provides multiple employment opportunities to each student candidate. Also, once a student is hired, SPC provides names of other students working in an employer's area, in case the students would like to socialize with each other on their time off.

EMPLOYER FAMILY REQUIRED FEES

There is a $140 non-refundable Application Fee that is required to be mailed in with the completed Family Application. For applications received after May 1st, the non-refundable Application Fee increases to $210. In addition, a Placement Fee is payable at the time of hiring. The placement fee is $395.

[Note: for placements of two weeks or less, the Placement Fee is two-thirds that of the regular rate. If the student returns for one or more summers, the Placement Fee is one-half that of the regular rate for each additional summer, and there is no Registration Fee required.]
